As the saying goes – ‘what comes around goes around.’ And this concept was no better proven than this past weekend when a man in Kennewick, Washington ironically had his car stolen … while he himself was allegedly burglarizing a local business establishment. Now how do you like them apples?
As the story goes, on Sunday Kennewick police responded to reports of a vehicle theft. When they arrived on scene the vehicle’s owner claimed that someone had stolen his pickup truck. Apparently in a stroke of genius, he had elected to leave his keys on the seat while he was stealing from the business across the street. Another thief (perhaps just a touch brighter than Mr. truck owner) took the opportunity to drive away with the truck. Now, of course, the man didn’t tell the police he was burglarizing the building next store. They figured that out upon their review of the surveillance video to figure out who stole the man’s truck; it was evidently crystal clear that the reason the pickup owner had left his truck was because he was himself stealing items from the business across the street. Well, the man earned himself a non-stop, one way ticket to the comfy confines of the Benton County jail.
To add insult to injury, the man already had a warrant out for his arrest on another matter. This all begs the question – why on earth did this individual think calling the police was a smart thing to do? Yes, at this point you should all be dejectedly shaking your heads from side to side. Note to self, if you are committing crime, and you already have a warrant out for your arrest, calling the police for help is probably (everyone say in unison) a poor decision. As for the truck, it is still AWOL.
