Cop Cars with Slogans

In the State of Michigan, a city Police Department (the City of Roseville) has come up with a novel and progressive idea for promoting domestic violence prevention/ awareness. Earlier this month the department unveiled the newest car to its fleet of police vehicles. The vehicle is unique because it has a decal on its side that reads: “Domestic Violence Awareness” followed by a large flowing purple domestic violence awareness ribbon. Also displayed on the vehicle is the website address for Turning Point, which is a domestic violence help not-for-profit entity in the county where the city sits. Often in Washington we see civilian cars, trucks and even city buses advertising all sorts of things; is it too farfetched to envision our city, county and state law enforcement agencies following suit? Should our law enforcement vehicles be emblazoned with broad slogans? Presumably there are pros and cons to highlighting certain campaigns, but at what price?
