Law enforcement is at it again – Emphasis Patrols. This time it is the Washington State Patrol. In line with other law enforcement agencies in-and-around the nation, the WSP is conducting DUI emphasis patrols. It is part of a nationwide effort to curb buzzed (drunk) driving. Through Labor Day (this year that is 9/7/20) extra troopers will be on duty intent on strictly enforcing Washington’s ‘rules of the road’ – specifically DUI laws. But that is not all. WSP will also be looking for dangerous speeding, distracted driving and even seat belt violations. This ‘shot across the bow’ approach is to remind people who are out drinking to be proactive and designate a sober driver, take public transportation or call a cab, Lyft, Uber or some other form of ride share. In short, to be smart when electing to drive in Washington.
