The Director of Seattle Police Accountability resigned last week. He had received a good deal of criticism from the current Chief of Police, Sue Rahr, about his handling of officer discipline. A new director has been appointed, Bonnie Glenn. Interim Chief Rahr has taken it upon herself to overturn a series of disciplinary recommendations made by the outgoing director, Gino Betts, Jr. because she claims he nitpicked discipline in minor disciplinary cases and didn’t prioritize major investigations. It will be interesting to see if any changes now that there is a new director of police accountability. As the worm turns, as they say.
