It is All in the Numbers

It seems that with every holiday, Washington State law enforcement compiles and disseminates the state’s driving under the influence (“DUI”) numbers related to the same. This past Labor Day was no exception. On Tuesday Troopers with the Washington State Patrol (“WSP”) released data on the number of DUI arrests made over our sunny Labor Day weekend.

According the state patrol, thirty-eight drivers were arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence over the weekend in Pierce and Thurston counties. Not to be outdone, King County had forty drivers that were arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence. That number, although higher than WSP’s wishes, was down from the 68 arrests made in King County over last Labor Day Weekend.

Whatcom, Skagit, Snohomish and Island Counties, according to the State Patrol, had forty two drivers arrested on suspicion of DUI. Similar to King County, that number was down from sixty-four arrests over Labor Day Weekend in 2018.

Although the numbers may be a bit down from years past, the WSP is still working to further curb DUI in Washington – hence the continued emphasis on Target Zero.

If you or a loved one has been arrested for a DUI, you should immediately contact a Seattle DUI defense attorney. A qualified and respected Seattle DUI lawyer, among other things, can quite possibly save the aggrieved person thousands of dollars in court and insurance fees, the extent of loss of privilege to drive, and the amount of jail time to be served. We have said it before and will say it again, Washington DUI laws are far too complicated for any ol’ attorney to handle. Be smart and consult with a qualified and skilled Seattle DUI attorney when arrested for an alcohol and/or drug related DUI in Washington State. SQ Attorneys is here to help – (206) 441-1600.
