Additional Bandit Charges Filed

Last week prosecutors in San Juan Islands added another sixteen counts of theft and burglary charges against the Barefoot Bandit – Colton Harris-Moore.  As many Washingtonians know, Harris-Moore is the former fugitive from Camano Island, Washington; his charges stem from a two year crime spree, which ended with him being caught in an epic chase in the Bahamas last summer. Since being caught, Harris-Moore has been charged for the thefts of at least five small aircraft, a boat, and two cars, and in the burglaries of at least 100 private residences in various locations in and around the Pacific Northwest, the United States and Canada.

As law enforcement started closing in, Harris-Moore fled to the Bahamas in an alleged stolen airplane. He was finally captured after the police cornered him on the waterways of the Bahamas. Harris-Moore is known as the “Barefoot Bandit” because he allegedly committed some of his crimes while barefoot, even leaving a chalk footprint at one crime scene.
