Two more public figures were recently arrested for Driving Under the Influence (“DUI”). It just goes to show, it is not just the common folk who get stopped for drinking and driving.
On May 1, 2011, 61 year old singer/ actor Rick Springfield was stopped for speeding on Pacific Coast Highway in Southern California; he was thereafter processed for DUI after his blood alcohol content was measured at .10 percent, which exceeds the California legal limit of .08 percent. The pop singer, and General Hospital icon, plead not guilty to the drunken driving allegations. The charges are now pending.
On early Saturday former Super Bowl MVP Hines Ward was arrested for DUI outside Atlanta, Georgia. Ward was booked into the DeKalb County jail, and he was charged with driving under the influence. Bond was set and it was posted by Ward. Ward allegedly cooperated with police and truthfully answered their questions; he does not believe he was under the influence of alcohol.
Both Springfield and Ward have retained qualified DUI attorneys to assist them in fighting the allegations brought against them.
