It Happened in Kirkland

Recently the Kirkland Police Department reported, among other things, 14 DUI’s, 20 thefts, 19 car prowls, 14 domestic violence related crimes, 8 acts of fraud, and 9 calls for illegal substance use during the time period of June 10th – 19th. Kirkland Police arrested approximately 97 people during that period of time. A sampling of the types of alleged crimes the Kirkland Police Department handled June 10 – 19, 2011, follows: (1) On June 11, 2011, a 24-year-old Kirkland woman was taken into custody for assault after her boyfriend reported she slapped him three times with an open hand; (2) on June 13, 2011 a 44-year-old Maple Valley man was arrested for assault after throwing his wife down on the pavement of a US Bank parking lot; (3) On June 16, 2011, a 27-year-old Kirkland man was contacted by police at the Kirkland Court for attempting to intimidate a witness in regards to his assault trial. The man reportedly threatened the victim in front of the judge who was overseeing his case; (4) On June 17, 2011, a 27-year-old Kirkland man allegedly assaulted three people near the Central Club and was subsequently arrested; (5) On June 18, 2011, a 28-year-old woman called police to report that her husband shoved her and damaged property during an argument. The man also attempted to prevent her from calling the police; and (6) On June 19, 2011, a 34-year-old Seattle man was contacted by Kirkland Police after someone reported him asleep in his car with an open bottle of Vodka next to him. When the man attempted to find his wallet the officer noticed a marijuana pipe in the vehicle as well.
