What is a bad idea? What is something that can only make things worse? Well, dragging a police officer down the street after you find out that he is arresting you certainly fits that bill. Undoubtedly one Washington driver is going to eventually find that out soon enough.

Police in Burlington are looking for the driver of a pickup that dragged one of their officers for approximately 30 feet over the weekend. The driver apparently has warrants … and the officer was arresting her. As the officer was trying to make the arrest, the arrestee/ driver put the pedal to the medal dragging the officer along with her. When other officers tried to stop the driver’s truck, she floored it, ran a red light and even hit another occupied car, which the persuing officers had to stop and give aid to thereby letting the driver get away. The arresting officer was taken to Skagit Valley Hospital for treatment, as was one of the people in smashed car.

Lest it be said, if and when the fleeing driver is caught, she is facing a boatload of incarceration time, which was probably exacerbated tenfold by her choice to take off when being confronted by law enforcement. There are only so many things a Seattle criminal defense attorney can do for his client, and when a person chooses to make things worse for themselves, it only challenges the attorney that much more. When being arrested it is best to stay calm and not say anything; give the defense attorney the best opportunity to create a positive outcome. Just sayin’ …
